Our Community

Community Banking Starts with Community

At Severn Savings, enhancing our community comes naturally to us. In fact, it is our stated mission to enhance our community by investing in the climate, culture, commerce and people of the Chesapeake Bay region. The Chesapeake region isn't merely a market, it's our home. We work to improve it, because it enriches all of us. Here are just a few of the local organizations and projects we have supported:

  • Chesapeake Bay Foundation
  • Paid leave for employees volunteering in the community
  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Salvation Army
  • Providence Center
  • Boys and Girls Club of Annapolis and Anne Arundel County
  • Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial at Anne Arundel Community College
  • Annapolis Art Walk
  • Anne Arundel Community College
  • Annapolis Independence Day Celebration
  • Glen Burnie Carnival

Community Giving Program

Community is at the center of all that we do at Severn Bank. Severn is committed to making an impact in our communities by primarily focusing our support efforts in the areas of Community Development, Youth, Education, the Arts and the Environment:

  • Community Development: We seek to support organizations and programs that promote wellness and stability in our community, particularly in regard to benefiting low-to-moderate income individuals.
  • Youth: We look for programs that support the education, health and safety of the youth in our communities.
  • Education: Our support is aimed at programs that foster academic achievement for students, as well as parent effectiveness and professional staff preparation.
  • The Arts: We support community-based arts organizations that lend to the diversity and culture of our communities.
  • The Environment: We support organizations that advance efforts for the restoration and maintenance of the health of the Chesapeake Bay region.

To be eligible for support from Severn Bank, organizations must be nonprofit, tax-exempt as defined in section 501(c) 3 of the internal revenue code, or a public service organization or institution. Severn Bank attempts to award donations and contributions to qualified nonprofit organizations located in communities where bank associates have a presence. Political and religious organizations are not eligible except in the case of nonsectarian social service organizations.

In-Kind Donations

Severn Bank makes in-kind donations for non-profits. Requests should be sent in writing with an outline of the requested donation.

Volunteers

Severn Bank encourages its associates to be out in the community volunteering for a variety of projects. Our paid-time employee volunteer program focuses on our priority areas outlined above. This may include working at a relief center, assisting with financial education, or mentoring. If your organization could benefit from our volunteers, let us know.
