Senior Credit Analyst:

Severn is seeking to hire a Sr. Credit Analyst. The incumbent’s overall responsibility is to analyze and monitor the financial status of potential customers, existing borrowers, and the bank’s loan portfolio as a whole. This professional will have direct interaction with customers, lenders, and bank executives. The primary duties of the job include:

  • Analyze new and existing speculative real estate requests for loans ranging from $250,000 to $6,000,000.
  • Review credit files of existing relationships to include updating borrower’s financial and construction progress information.
  • Review appraisals in accordance with Severn’s established guidelines.
  • Perform annual reviews of borrower relationships concluding with a Risk Rating recommendation.
  • Assist in the creation and maintenance of various borrower, construction project, and portfolio measurement and tracking reports.

The minimum level of education and experience for this position includes:

  • Ability to read, interpret and analyze customer financial statements/data.
  • Strong Organizational skills.
  • Detail Oriented.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and written format.
  • Intermediate proficiency on keyboard and ability to learn a variety of financial software
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or finance.
  • 5+ yrs experience in the banking industry or related field with a concentration in Commercial Real Estate (CRE)

 Project Manager:

We are seeking to hire an experienced Project Manager. The Project Manager is responsible to lead multiple organizational projects.  The incumbent must be able to work independently with business users throughout project life cycles. With the direction of the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and strategy staff, the incumbent is responsible for overseeing the business and technology aspects of assigned projects.  The incumbent will be assigned to lead projects and manage the on-going maintenance of related systems or business processes.  Must be able to partner with department managers to develop solutions and generate new ideas to meet their needs. The qualified candidate will possess a minimum level of education and experience which includes:

  • Bachelors Degree in a technical discipline or equivalent work experience.
  • PMP certification (preferred)
  • 5 yrs of progressive experience in project management and managing assorted teams.
  • 5 yrs managing and overseeing a wide range of projects in the banking industry
  • Proficient in project management software

Mail Clerk:

We are seeking to hire a Mail Clerk.  This is a part-time position with hours Monday- Friday 12-5.  The Mail Clerk acts as manager of the mail room, mail clerk, and messenger with duties focused on the incoming and outgoing of Severn mail and supplies.  This position will also cover Severn’s corporate phones when receptionist is on lunch break. The qualified candidate will possess exceptional customer service skills and a minimum level of education and experience to include: 

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1yr experience as Mail Room Clerk to include messenger or courier and/or 2+ yrs of related administrative position.
  • Knowledge, use of postage machine
  • Valid MD Drivers License and satisfactory driving record.

Internal Audit Manager:

Severn is seeking to hire an Internal Audit Manager. Under the supervision of Severn Bank’s Audit Committee, the Internal Audit Manager is responsible for the development of the Internal Audit Department, the supervision of other members within the department, the development of internal audit processes, procedures and testing, and will be the Audit Liaison for all outside internal audit consultants. Some of the duties include:

Internal Audit Function: Oversee and develop the organization’s internal audit function and staff.

Provide leadership and direction in developing, communicating and monitoring internal audit policies, practices, programs and processes.

Develop an audit risk assessment and internal audit plan.

Evaluate internal controls and provide recommendations resulting in cost-effective, value added and timely recommendations to management.

Determine the risk, scope and frequency for internal audits.

Assist in the selection of an appropriate vendor for the internal audit service, and oversee the vendor’s service performance.

Act as Audit Liaison to internal audit consultants.

Perform audit testing in accordance with the Institute of Internal Auditor’s Standard.

Evaluate and report the internal audit findings to appropriate management and Audit Committee.

Responsible for communicating with Audit Committee regarding the internal audit findings and progress plan.

Ensure follow up on findings; noted once management has implemented corrective action.

Assist the Audit Committee in assessing whether management has resolved internal controls weaknesses and expectations expeditiously.


Mortgage Loan Officers :

We are seeking to hire experienced Mortgage Loan Officers.  At Severn, our Mortgage Loan Officers (MLO) proactively solicit new residential mortgage business and sell Severn Savings Bank mortgage products to meet established loan quality and production goals.  In this on-going sales role, the Mortgage Loan Officer continually identifies, develops and maintains a quality network of business relationships that serves as a recurring source of referrals for new mortgage lending opportunities. A Mortgage Loan Officer’s network may consist of Real Estate professionals, Builders, professional and personal contacts, as well as other valuable referral sources, and is enhanced by the Mortgage Loan Officer’s regular participation in business related development opportunities, community efforts to promote homeownership and professional organizations.

The qualified candidates must possess a minimum 2 yrs of recent Mortgage Lending experience and:

Demonstrate understanding of mortgage processing, underwriting and closing procedures.

Knowledge of conventional and/or government lending guidelines.

Understanding of Federal Regulations governing Real Estate Lending.

Strong computer skills including a fundamental understanding of LOS applications, database management and previous experience utilizing desktop and laptop technology for communication purposes including accessing rate, credit and loan status information.

Solid time management skills and the ability to organize prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing, across a variety of audiences.

Ability to analyze and comprehend complex financial data and provide financial alternatives.

Professional and effective interpersonal skills.

Enthusiasm for assignments and the ability to meet established timelines.
